The hundred foot journey – movie review

I thought I’d do something I haven’t done in a while. That something is to update you all by writing a film review. It seems like ages since my last post so I have some making up to do!

100 foot journey movie

On to the movie. The hundred foot journey is set in an idyllic part of South West France and without giving you too much, it contains a lot of laugh out loud moments and shots of delicious looking food. (Don’t go to this movie hungry!) With Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey producing this feel good film, I was expecting this to be fun to say the least.

Although the film is quintessentially the happy, rom-com; I have to say that the film delivered to my expectations. Although it isn’t the sort of movie that would knock social media into a frenzy, I thought the beauty of the film was portrayed through the characters effectively and the cross of cultures were careful thought out without it being too far fetched. I thought Helen Mirren was brilliant in this light hearted film. Kudos also to Manish Dayal who played the main character.  My main reason for going to watch this specific film was because I felt it would be a wonderful movie to watch with the parents, and the family outing was definitely worth it.

If you are looking for a movie with a wonderful sound track (thanks to the legendary A.R. Rahman sir), and something to make you laugh, then hop, skip or jump to The hundred foot journey.  Check out the trailer below:

Stay tuned for more posts this week.
